GMO Free USA was proud to be an educational exhibitor during the Earth Day Texas (EDTx) festival in Dallas through the weekend of April 21 – 23, 2016. Billed as “the world’s largest Earth Day exhibition”, The Dallas Morning News reported this year’s attendance clocking in at over 130,000 attendees.
The GMO Debate: How Do We Feed a Growing World? was a panel debate in the EDTx 2016 Green Speaker Series. In this Texas-sized showdown, we hear from both sides of the aisle. The non-GMO side was represented by Steven Druker (Executive Director of Alliance for Bio-Integrity and Public Interest Attorney) and Howard Vlieger (Livestock Nutrition and Crop Advisor), and the pro-GMO side by Julie Borlaug (Associate Director of The Norman Borlaug Institute External Relations) and Russell Boening (President of Texas Farm Bureau). There are few debates as fierce in the food world right now. Pop some organic popcorn, press the play button and see how we win!
Including participating in the GMO Debate, GMO Free USA produced a Green Speaker Series presentation with our special guest, Steven Druker, author of acclaimed book, Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: How the Venture to Genetically Engineer our Food Has Subverted, Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public, hailed by Jane Goodall as “without doubt, one of the most important books of the last 50 years.” Steven’s presentation, “The Unacceptable Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods and How the Public Has Been Consistently Misled about Them”, capped off a productive Saturday at EDTx.
GMO Free USA reached thousands of people through our exhibition booth and the Green Speaker Series debate and presentation. We couldn’t have done this without our tireless volunteers and the generous support of our individual donors and sponsors: Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, Earth Mama Angel Baby, Annmarie Skin Care, Chipotle, Coconut Bliss, Davidson’s Organics and Taza Chocolate.
