In a recent EPA announcement, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, alongside HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., proclaimed the agency was Making America Healthy Again by tackling the issue of toxic PFAS chemicals in the nation’s drinking water.
In the bizarre statement, Zeldin said the solution to removing toxic PFAS chemicals in our drinking water was not to regulate and remove PFAS in drinking water, but to deregulate.
In 2024, the Biden EPA finalized the first-ever legally enforceable PFAS National Primary Drinking Water Regulation to begin protecting Americans from PFAS pollution. The rule set limits for six individual PFAS: PFOA and PFOS limits were set at 4.0 parts per trillion (ppt) maximum contaminant level (MCL). The MCL for PFNA, PFHxS, and HFPO-DA (also known as GenX) was set at 10 ppt. The rule also set a limit for mixtures of any two or more of four PFAS: PFNA, PFHxS, PFBS, and GenX chemicals. Overall the rule would have regulated six of the most widely-used PFAS.
The rule would have given public water systems until April 26, 2027 to complete the first round of PFAS testing and reporting, and until April 26, 2029 to implement treatment and reduce PFAS to meet the standards.
This rule was proposed after years of reviewing extensive research and independent peer-reviewed science, and after a public comment period that amassed over 120,000 comments from the public, including GMO/Toxin Free USA, overwhelmingly in support of the rule.
But now, Trump’s EPA has proposed rescinding the Biden-era rule and is proposing two new rules instead.
In the first rule, the EPA is “proposing to rescind its regulatory determinations to regulate four PFAS—PFHxS, PFNA, HFPO-DA, commonly known as GenX, and mixtures of these three PFAS plus PFBS—under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The EPA is also proposing to rescind all associated regulatory provisions currently codified in the EPA’s 2024 PFAS National Primary Drinking Water Regulations.”
In the second rule, the EPA “proposes a federal exemption that will extend the dates of compliance with the Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs) for PFOA and PFOS from April 26, 2029, to April 26, 2031.”
In plain English: what the EPA wants to do is to drop regulation on four of the six PFAS and delay the regulation of the remaining two. Keep in mind that there are potentially over 15,000 PFAS chemicals used in manufacturing. So regulating six PFAS was only a start.
Unfortunately, gaslighting by Lee Zeldin and an EPA stacked with chemical industry lobbyists have become the norm.
Activists across the country have advocated and fought for decades for action on removing PFAS from drinking water. We cannot allow this ultra-corrupt administration, beholden to the chemical industry, to roll back progress in protecting public health.
“Zeldin and Kennedy are trying to sell potions out of the back of a covered wagon. The millions of Americans demanding safe drinking water are not going to fall for their hocus pocus. By repealing and delaying PFAS standards, EPA is abandoning communities in desperate need of drinking water protections, especially those who live near polluting industries,” said Anna Reade, director of PFAS advocacy at the Natural Resources Defense Council.
By law, the EPA must provide a public comment period on these changes. Because the EPA wants to make commenting difficult, they have created two separate dockets, one for each proposed rule. Please click through both actions and submit comments today opposing the changes to the original National Primary Drinking Water Regulation. The suggested comment texts are editable and we encourage you to write them in your own voice.
Let the EPA know you’re not buying the gaslighting. Only an overwhelming public response will stop these corrupt EPA officials from throwing Americans under the bus for corporate polluters.
Make your voice heard. Then share with your family and friends.
Let’s get this done.
In solidarity,
The GMO/Toxin Free USA Team

You all are unbelievable. What you are considering doing is harming wildlife, humans, the ecosystem and is destroying our planet. Get your head out of your asses and do the right thing. You are also harming not only yourselves and your families but also future generations to come. Keep Americans healthy.
I thank you for taking a stand & pushing the Envelope on this matter.
We must do all we can to ensure that we do not intentionally harm any
human, or wildlife life.
Both are precious. Please remember that the wildlife, both on the earth, in the waters, & in the air, are our balance. We must to take so much as to destroy our balance.
We all must find Balance in our lives.

Why don’t you become honest and do the job that you are very well paid to do?
I’d like to know what water the EPA is drinking, because surely they don’t want to drink PFAS.
Clean water is a right.

Well said! Good luck getting Ill-educated Americans to listen and act on these dire threats.
Money talks . . . but listen to your conscience (if you have any).
Lee Zeldin and the EPA can have my pfas, pfoa and pfos as you are corrupt enough, that you deserve them.
Why don’t you become honest and do the job that you are very well paid to do?
My fondest wish is that the letter “P” be returned to the EPA.
This must stop!
As the EPA “your job” is to protect the environment and that entails protecting our air, our land, our water, our wildlife, our planet and the American people.
As the EPA your job “IS NOT” to appease the GREEDY, GRIFTING WHIMS of an INCOMPETENT President hell-bent on selling out the American people and poisoning us in the process.
DO YOUR JOB!
DO THE RIGHT THING BY PUTTING A STOP TO TRUMP’S PLANS OF RESCINDING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONS AND RULES MEANT TO KEEP US ALL SAFE AND HEALTHY!
REMEMBER, ZELDIN AND KENNEDY, YOU WORK FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NOT TRUMP AND HIS WEALTHY DONORS !
IN 2026, WE CLEAN HOUSE!!
What morons want the water poisoned?
Lee Zeldin and RFK ay be the singularly most inappropriate people to be holding their jobs in history, second of course only to the current president. All of Zeldin’s policies to date have been in direct opposition to what is best for the planet, its wildlife and its people, and in furtherance of corporate profit. In a just world, all three of the above named would be serving life prison sentences for their nefarious deeds.
Please provide clean healthy water.
Lee Zeldin – the solution to removing toxic PFAS chemicals in our drinking water is to regulate.
Please focus on drinking water safety for the health of our people in this country. Refrain from making safe drinking water a political issue and have it be a right for all people.
WHY do we have to “beg”, for these common sense actions? Good Lord!
You think you will get in a billionaires bunker??? You are stupider than you realize!
This affects your whole family as well
This is blow to our national security and planetary existence.
“How”, you ask?
When you’ve altered the health of the humans that call the USA home, destroyed the water that’s meant to nourish humans, animals and ecosystems, epigenetic changes ensue and we are seeing that now. The toxicity of PFAS and PFOAS is well documented for human and animal subjects.
The US ranks #1 in health care spending per person and when it comes to population health, the US life expectancy is 35th-45th on a list of global countries. Our infant mortality is the highest amongst wealthy nations. Great idea! Make people sick and spend more ag/pharma dollars to try to keep them alive.
Less babies are being born (fertility rate), worse health markers – obesity, pre-diabetes and diabetes, high blood pressure, celiac disease, . . . higher rates of chronic disease, earlier mortality . . . etc.
Gee, that’s a great population to recruit soldiers from when stronger nations start testing our strength. I guess we’ll be OK however, because we’ll feed our troops glyphosate-ladened mono crops of corn, soy and seed oils.
Remember recently that it was a “national security concern” when glyphosate, (declared a probable carcinogen by IARC – World Health Organization in 2015) was approved to grow those crops and feed our population (and troops).
Drinking water should be pure!
Those who pollute should be held accountable for poisoning us . Make them drink the bad water and tainted food !!
Time for real regulators with real accountability for all creatures on this earth
We need to keep our water clean, it’s bad enough that a lot us are walking around with PFAS in our bodies. and our current president has decided to eliminate cancer research, the CDC, protections for our environment, bring back coal- what’s a little mercury poisoning, and on top of it eliminating health care!
Keep up the good work
Clean water=life1
All people and animals should be protected from drinking water filled with toxic chemicals.
Time to divest from fossil fuel plastics. Not to mention divesting from fossil fuels, entirely. Just recall Exxon suppressed its own negative fossil fuel report in 1979. 1979.
Just in case you are mentally slow, here it is again: 1979. Which is 7 years after Ohio’s Cuyahoga River made news by lighting on fire a number of times; once when I was on a cruise on it…
Is this truly the desire of the present EPA?
Don’t weaken much needed protections against toxic PFAS in our drinking water.
I want clean water to drink!
DO THR RIGHT THING and STOP PFAS
I want clean water to drink! We deserve no less in this country of plenty. You are capable of providing clean water as a benefit to all,
Clean water is a human dignity privilege which you can provide to all.
Clean water is a human dignity privilege which you can provide to all.
PFAS are dangerous and must be kept out of the water!
Forever chemicals do not belong in our environment. The environment protection agency should be doing its job to protect humanity.
Need clean drinking water!!!!!!
